Pastor's Note for March 2026

Greetings to the DPC saints,

As you may have heard by now, our theme for this Lent is “Walking Our Faith.”

Of course, in part that means “walking the talk,” as the saying goes; we are called to

live out what we say we believe, walking the path to which we are called as disciples.

But this year, we are taking it a step further, as it were. We mean to actually do

some walking. On Saturday, March 14th, we will be walking the labyrinth, an opportunity to engage in some walking meditation and carrying intentions. A variety of activities will be available for us to walk our faith.

The biggest challenge will be our goal of walking a distance of some 3,273

miles. To, where? That will be shared later, after we’ve started. Walking in faith, we will

find our way, I promise! We hope to amass those miles together with each of us walking

some of that distance. Not a walker? No problem! You can sponsor those who are,

with the proceeds going to support this year’s CROP Walk. As we make our virtual

journey, we will be praying for others and asking them to pray for us. We will also pray

for all of the Presbyterian churches we pass along the way on our journey to our

destination. That is truly walking our faith!

To support all of this walking, we are lifting up two books for study this Lent. The

first is “Meeting Jesus on the Road,” by Cynthia Campbell and Christine Fohr. The

second is by Walter Brueggemann, “A Way Other Than Our Own,” a book of daily

devotions. On two Sundays, March 15th and March 29th , there will be a soup luncheon

after church to give anyone who wishes a chance to discuss what they’ve been reading.

On Palm Sunday, March 29th , as Lent draws to a close, we will have a palm

procession and short pageant in worship to remind us of the walk leading us toward

Jesus’ final days. In Holy Week we continue that journey through Maundy Thursday

and Good Friday, culminating in Easter on April 5th . You are invited to join the journey and to think about the power of walking our faith. As the monks in the essay in this newsletter demonstrated, simply walking with intention has great power and is a witness to the world. Joining together, we can be that witness in our community.

Peace, Ken
