Philipians 1:3-11

If Malachi shouts from the mountain top that God is a refiner's fire, here Paul whispers from the prison cell that peace is achieved by the good work that God accomplishes within us.  Paul begins his letter by painting a picture of the active love of God which is the starting point - and the road - towards a life of purity and blamelessness.

The Hebrew word for peace - Shalom - means more than cessation of conflict. Its semantic range includes the whole person; physical, mental, spiritual, financial, relational - peace.
